Organizers of the technology and commercial real estate conference DisruptCRE are anticipating a full-house when their event returns to Chicago on May 26th. The conference will take place on the 16th floor of the historic Chicago Board of Trade Building (CBOT), a fitting location given GlenStar Properties’ notable efforts to modernize the iconic 85-year-old high-rise. The building was recently rewired allowing tenants to choose from a dozen different fiber providers and a rooftop deck was installed featuring a a 20’ illuminated water wall.

The DisruptCRE conference will include educational and “thought provoking” discussions centered around the latest CRE tech trends. Topics range from tech supporting our buildings such as IoT (internet of things), tenant engagement and concierge services to transactional technologies such as blockchain, crowdfunding and real estate’s secondary market.

“This is one day in the year that CRE professionals should look forward too. We take the topics that are crucial to the future of this industry, and unpack them in a way that makes it easy to digest,”says Mariel Ebrahimi DisruptCRE CEO and conference day host.

This year’s conference will kick off with a special 15 minute TED-style talk titled: “Tech & CRE: Endless Opportunities & We’re Just Getting Started” by the CEO of Avison Young, Mark E. Rose. Following the keynote will be a presentation on the $22M technology renovation of the CBOT building and like other DisruptCRE conferences, there will be a segment called “Meet the Disruptors” where CRE tech companies have 45 seconds to pitch their company to attendees.

The second half of the conference includes three educational panels anchored by the popular “State of CRE & Tech: The Executive’s POV,” where some of the most recognizable and powerful executives in the industry will shed light on how technology is affecting the industry on a local and global scale. Executive’s will also explore the CRE tech products and services that are currently in the marketplace, what are they investing in or implementing now, and what is coming up on the horizon that gets them excited.

According to Ebrahimi, this year’s speakers are filled with CRE and investment industry titans including Deena Zimmerman, Vice President of SVN Chicago; Jordan Nof, Head of Investments at Tusk Ventures; Edward Wagoner, Global CIO Corporate Solutions for JLL; Kevin Loftis, CIO Americas for Cushman & Wakefield
and Constance Freedman, Managing Director  of Moderne Ventures, among others.

The conference closes with a casual “cocktails and nosh” networking event where attendees can re-visit the showcase for networking and demos in a casual atmosphere to engage personally with the tech companies, sponsors, VC’s, and other real estate industry leaders.

DisruptCRE Co-Founder Stephen Hopkins says, “The way the CRE industry currently operates is antiquated. Our presenters will explore how technology is facilitating the changes in the future of developing, managing, buying, selling, financing of all commercial properties.”

The conference takes place Thursday, May 26th from 12:00PM-6:00PM at 141 W. Jackson Boulevard in Chicago.
