Office workers have made their sentiments known that they prefer hybrid work schedules and shorter commutes, and that’s driving demand for satellite offices.
A recent Unispace study found that over 60 percent of workers surveyed are choosing to split their work between home and the office in lieu of coming to work 5 days a week. On top of that, 79 percent of workers surveyed expressed that they would be happier to return to the office if the office was only 5-10 minutes from their home.
With so many respondents stating that they would gladly return to the office so long as they didn’t have to travel too far, the creation of satellite offices to support an amenity-packed HQ may be the natural option for businesses aiming to address the varied demands of their staff post-pandemic.
While this study was conducted on European office workers, the willingness to return to work at the expense of a shorter commute is being felt on U.S. soil. For occupiers who are feeling a sense of urgency to lure their workers back, these findings strongly indicate that adding satellite offices to their portfolio may be a sound strategy to boost employee morale and retain talent.
